jdwcornell

I'm Jason Woodward, a software engineering director in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, USA.

Find me on twitter as @jdwcornell, on facebook and on linkedin.  My OpenID is http://openid.jwoodward.com/jason. You can email me.

Find my primary-but-not-frequently-updated blog on blogger. My now-defunct Ithaca Gun demolition blog also resides there.  Unfortunately they haven't moved much past demolition in their quest to build townhouses on the property.

I'm active with the HighEdWeb organization, having presented at several past conferences, organizing a couple of regional conferences, and most recently being invited to be on the program committee of the annual conference.
I also speak at venues at Cornell and elsewhere, notably:
Periodically I'll build some interesting (to me; YMMV) software.  Recent-ish minor wins include:
Previously I was:
  • 2003 - 2008: Senior Web Systems Analyst at Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration; architected and built web administrative systems; notably a Contribute <-> Perforce WebDAV+XML shim to create a Web CMS that only gets in your way a little bit, instead of a lot
  • 2004 - 2007: Graduate student at Cornell University in the Computer Science department
  • 1998 - 2002: Senior Software Engineer at EMusic.com; architected and built, or substantially contributed to, the web infrastructure in use prior to 2002 acquisition.  Original author and maintainer of FreeAmp (now Zinf).
  • 1993 - 1998: Undergraduate at Cornell University in the Computer Science department
  • 1989 - 1993: High School in Baltimore, MD at St. Paul's
Hopefully that helps disambiguate me from the other folks named Jason Woodward out there!

And yes.  A web software person with a Google Apps-hosted domain complete with CMS-based (Sites) front page.  I can hear you chuckling from here.
